Malaysia Female Dota 2 Team Wins Global Esports Games 2023 Riyadh

The Malaysian all-female team for the Dota 2 competition at the Global Esports Games 2023 Riyadh has won first place and the gold medal from the competition. The team consists of players Stephanie “Auroraa” Lim, Melissa “Lynnie” Lim, Tiffany “Hishiko” Tsuyuri, Velnaoh, and Bette “Istarx” Chia (all of them from Grills Gaming). They defeated Thailand, Argentina, and Peru in succession, staying in the winner’s bracket and continuing the momentum until the end.

The team thanked their coach WinteR for bringing them together the past few months.
“We wanna thank our amazing coach WinteR for bringing us together as a team in the past few months, even though you can’t be here with us due to ESL you’re still the best coach ever hands down. And female teams are doubly hard to coach so you get double the credit.
Our therapy sessions with Mind Gap were also really helpful in grounding everybody, resolving issues & strengthening our team bonds.”
In related news, the Malaysian Dota 2 team in the open event won second place and silver in the main tournament. They were beaten by Kazakhstan, though not for lack of trying as seen in the replay below.
