The Pokémon Company Makes Big Donation To Support Japan’s Earthquake Victims

The Pokémon Company recently made a generous donation, of 50 million JPY (approximately MYR1,610,380.68) to aid those affected by the recent Noto Peninsula Earthquake. On 1 January 2024, a powerful tremor struck approximately 4.3 miles north-northwest of the Japanese city of Suzu, situated in the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture.

The earthquake’s seismic activity and a subsequent tsunami resulted in extensive damage across the Noto Peninsula, devastating many neighbourhoods and killing at least 92 people. This earthquake has been labelled the deadliest incident in Japan since the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes.

As of Friday, Japan’s Self-Defense Forces has increased the number of troops participating in rescue efforts to 4,600, according to Kyodo news agency. The Pokémon Company has expressed its support in helping those affected by the disaster in a recent post made on Twitter/X;

“We would like to express our deepest sympathies to those affected by the 2020 Noto Peninsula Earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024.

The Pokémon Company has decided to donate 50 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society and donations to support organizations in order to help those affected by the disaster and to help restore the affected areas.

Additionally, through the Pokémon With You Foundation, we will continue to carry out activities to help children affected by the disaster regain their smiles.

We sincerely pray for the earliest possible recovery and reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas.”

Moreover, the Pokémon Company expressed its heartfelt condolences to those affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and reaffirmed its commitment to providing ongoing support through the Pokémon With You Foundation. This organization organizes special events to raise funds and uplift the spirits of children affected by natural disasters.

It is always heartwarming to witness video game companies generously giving back to the communities that have shown unwavering support. The Pokémon Company’s recent donation to those affected by a devastating earthquake in 2024 is a testament to their commitment to assisting the citizens of Japan. While the relief efforts are ongoing, every act of support will greatly contribute to the rebuilding and regrouping of the Noto Peninsula inhabitants following this catastrophic event.
