Death Stranding 2 Trailer Showcases More Deliveries & Kojima Weirdness; Out 2025

The next post-apocalyptic action-adventure delivery game entry is underway courtesy of Kojima Productions, exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Death Stranding 2 was officially announced, big trailer and gameplay and all, during today’s PlayStation State of Play livestream. With the new subtitle On The Beach, the next Death Stranding continues the prequel’s story; Sam is now with a group called the Drawbridge, but with the same job: to connect people and worlds by delivering packages and building bridges (metaphorically and physically).

“Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.”

The first game’s antagonist Higgs is back and now wields a guitar as a weapon. There’s also a big red samurai guy you may eventually do battle with, as well as a lady captain of a ship who has a winged cat for a pet who may end up becoming the sequel’s darling mascot. Assuming it isn’t the talking doll Sam hangs onto his person.

The game also has new vistas and landscapes like deserts and tundras, to even the Moon. We’re going places with this delivery game, people!

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be out in 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5. Check out the jam-packed trailer filled with even more oddities that would make even Kojima fans go “huh?”. The game stars Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker, with special appearances by George Miller (Mad Max series) and Fatih Akin (In The Fade).
