ATLUS most recent and highly praised JRPG remake, Persona 3 Reload, gets a webtoon adaptation based on the game’s story.

The announcement was made by ATLUS West on their Twitter account, where the webtoon is titled Persona 3 Reload: Beginnings. Merryweather Media, an art and entertainment studio based in Tokyo and Singapore, will be responsible for creating the webtoon.

As of this writing, the webtoon has already released two chapters and plans to continue releasing new chapters every Friday. This will allow fans to experience the excitement of Persona 3 Reload in a comic format.

According to the synopsis of the webtoon:

“Hidden between one day and the next is a mysterious phenomenon called the Dark Hour: a time period where otherworldly creatures prey on human psyches, leaving behind victims with the debilitating Apathy Syndrome. In the midst of this darkness, the unknowing second-year transfer student Makoto Yuki arrives at Gekkoukan High School – and through a chance encounter, or perhaps fate itself, awakens a new power within…”

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the 2006 role-playing game Persona 3. It is the third instalment in the spin-off series of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Over the years, several versions of this game have been released, such as Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable. In addition to these spin-off titles, newer mainline entries such as Persona 4 and Persona 5 have also been developed. While the series has had remakes in the past, Persona 3 Reload stands out as a remake that offers a comprehensive overhaul rather than simply being a re-release like Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal.
