New Regency is working on a live-action movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, which was originally launched for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC back in 2014 (via Deadline).

Acclaimed French genre director Mathieu Turi is attached to the project, as well as actress Sophie Wilde, who is best known for starring in 2023’s breakout horror movie, Talk To Me.

The screenplay for the Watch Dogs movie is being written by Christie LeBlanc, known for writing the Netflix original sci-fi thriller Oxygen, and is revised by Victoria Bata. Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann will produce for New Regency Pictures, alongside Margaret Boykin for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The first game follows protagonist hacker Aiden Pearce who is out for revenge after his niece is killed. The game is set in a world where there is a technology called ctOS (Central Operating System), a computing network connecting every device together into a single system, developed by the technology company Blume. Because of this, hackers like Aiden Pearce could hack into almost anything remotely, which is part of the main gameplay mechanic of the Watch Dogs games.

There is no release date or release window for the Watch Dogs movie yet.
