Statistics Summarizes SEA Gamers’ Spending Habits
By Alleef Ashaari|March 14, 2024|0 Comment
The people of Southeast Asia are always arguing with each other (friendly banter, of course) and one-upping each other whenever possible. This is especially so when it comes to gamers in the region. However, who spends the most money on video games in SEA? Well, there’s more to meet the eye when you factor in income, according to statistics provided by Niko Partners.
Who are the biggest spenders on video games in Southeast Asia? The answer is Singaporeans. In terms of the biggest amount of money spent on video games, those in Singapore can boast of being on top because of the higher average income of Singaporeans compared to others in Southeast Asia.
However, the statistics reveal that those in Thailand and the Philippines spend the highest portion of their income on video games compared to anyone else.
What about Malaysians? Just like Singaporeans, Malaysians are the least likely to spend high portions of their income on video games. Another possible answer as to why Singaporeans and Malaysians don’t spend as much of their income on video games compared to other countries is because of the higher cost of living in both countries.
