Marvel Gives Away Free Fantastic Four Comics As Recommended Reads Before Next Year’s Movie

Marvel Studios has seemingly released a new poster of Johnny Storm AKA the Human Torch for the upcoming The Fantastic Four movie with a special link. However, the “celebrate 4-4 Day” link (via Twitter) seemingly sent fans to a themed 404 error page featuring the Fantastic Four’s robot companion HERBIE but it actually held a secret link in the form of a faux-QR code placed on HERBIE himself.

Clicking on that will send you to an invite page to the Future Foundation, and a recommended reading list “to prepare for the upcoming meeting” that is now FREE to read on Marvel’s Unlimited digital comics platform.

In the comics, the Future Foundation was established during Jonathan Hickman’s run on Fantastic Four in 2010, and is a wider philanthropic entity/superhero team developed by Reed Richards as a way to advance the Fantastic Four’s own goals and scientific agenda to safeguard humanity’s future. The roster mainly focuses on a rotating working group of younger heroes and older heroes, including Spider-Man at one point.

Given the retro ‘60s vibe that The Fantastic Four movie is going for, the recommended list makes sense.

The first is, of course, the very first issue of the Fantastic Four, where they fight the Mole Man.

The second, Fantastic Four #48, features the debut of the Silver Surfer and Galactus.

The third, Fantastic Four #49, features the arrival of Galactus on Earth and the Fantastic Four’s conflict against him.

The fourth, Fantastic Four #50, is the conclusion of the original Galactus arc, with the Fantastic Four using the Ultimate Nullifier as a deterrent to stop Galactus.

The fifth, Fantastic Four: Life Story #1, is a strange choice. It’s a relatively new comic published in 2021 and it’s actually sort of a non-canon retelling at the Fantastic Four in real time, decade by decade, from their origin in the 1960s all the way to the 2010s.

All five comics are now available to read free on the Marvel Unlimited app.

Here are our new Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer:

  • Pedro Pascal – Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic
  • Vanessa Kirby – Susan Storm / Invisible Woman
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach – Benjamin ‘Ben’ Grimm / The Thing
  • Joseph Quinn – Johnny Storm AKA The Human Torch
  • Julia Garner – Shalla Bal / Silver Surfer

The Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman, best known for directing episodes of WandaVision and Monarch Legacy Of Monsters.

The Fantastic Four premieres in Malaysian cinemas on 25 July 2025.

Pascal is best known for many roles, including Game Of Thrones, The Mandalorian and of course, The Last Of Us. Courtesy of HBO Asia, we were lucky enough to be the only Malaysian media to participate in interviews with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey last year.
