The Fantastic Four Movie Casts Ozark Actress As Silver Surfer

According to multiple sources (such as Deadline), Marvel Studios‘ The Fantastic Four has cast actress Julia Garner to play ‘Silver Surfer’ but her character’s name is Shalla-Bal.

That’s weird, honestly, because, in the comics, Shalla-Bal is the Empress of Zenn-La (Silver Surfer’s home planet) and the lover of Norrin Radd AKA the Silver Surfer. She has never been the Silver Surfer, but she has been given the Power Cosmic before.

She only became the Silver Surfer in alternate/variant universe stories such as the Earth X miniseries.

Julia Garner is best known for starring in Netflix’s Ozark series.

• Vanessa Kirby – Susan Storm / Invisible Woman
• Ebon Moss-Bachrach – Benjamin ‘Ben’ Grimm / The Thing

The Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman, best known for directing episodes of WandaVision and Monarch Legacy Of Monsters.

The Fantastic Four premieres in Malaysian cinemas on 25 July 2025.
