James Gunn Confirms The Green Lanterns Series Has Watchmen Showrunner Damon Lindelof On Board
DC Studios boss James Gunn himself has confirmed (via Threads and Instagram) that Tom King, Chris Mundy and Damon Lindelof are working as a team of writers to bring the upcoming Green Lantern series, titled Lanterns, to life.
Damon Lindelof is best known for being the showrunner of critically acclaimed TV shows such as Lost and HBO’s Watchmen miniseries. Meanwhile, Chris Mundy worked on Netflix’s Ozark. Unfortunately, Tom King is an overrated comic book writer who has previously written ‘amazing’ storylines such as the ‘much-celebrated’ Heroes In Crisis (this sentence about Tom King is meant to be read in a sarcastic tone).
Lanterns is one of many projects in the planned first phase of the new DC Universe, or DCU. The only thing we know about the Lanterns series is that it will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, who investigate a mystery together.
There is no cast attached to Lanterns yet, and there is no release date or window yet.
The first product of the DCU, Superman, is slated to premiere on 11 July 2025.
Here’s hoping that the Lanterns series can be as good as HBO’s Watchmen.
