Ncuti Gatwa Reveals His Favourite Episode Of Currently Ongoing Doctor Who Series 14
By Alleef Ashaari|May 21, 2024|0 Comment
Doctor Who follows the Doctor (the 15th Doctor, as played by Ncuti Gatwa) and his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) as they travel across time and space, with adventures all the way from the Regency era in England, to war-torn future worlds. Throughout their adventures in the TARDIS – a time-travelling ship shaped like a police box – they encounter incredible friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying bogeyman, and the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet.
Courtesy of Disney+ Hotstar, here’s what Ncuti Gatwa had to say about his favourite episode in the currently-ongoing Doctor Who Series 14.
He said:
“I’d say Rogue was my favourite. Millie and I just had a blast. The Doctor and Ruby are very excited to go to the Regency era, and Millie and I had very similar sentiments. We were excited about our costumes which were amazing. And it was incredible working with Jonathan Groff as well. He’s an amazing actor. He brings such gravitas to the episode.”
Rogue will be Episode 6 of the current season and it will premiere on 8 June 2024.
Gatwa also revealed the advice that Matt Smith (who previously played the 11th Doctor) gave him for the role:
“Yes. They have been amazing, so supportive. I bumped into Matt Smith at a party before I was allowed to announce it to anyone. I told him I was following in his footsteps, and he had no idea what I was talking about. But when it was announced, he texted me – ‘Aah, now I get it!’ He was so lovely.
He was like, ‘Take it all in your stride. If you ever need any advice, here’s my number, send me a text.’ Now that I’m in the role I get what they mean. What it’s like to play that role is not something that anyone else can understand. I’m very grateful for their support.”
New episodes of Doctor Who Series 14 premieres every Saturday at 7am GMT+8 on Disney+ Hotstar.
In November/December 2023, Doctor Who premiered for the first time on Disney+ Hotstar with three 60th-anniversary special episodes, as well as a Christmas special episode that introduced the world to Ncuti Gatwa as the new Doctor.
As a Whovian, I’m happy for all my fellow Whovians out there.
