Nintendo Confirms That Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be Announced “This Fiscal Year”

Nintendo has officially confirmed that they will announce the Nintendo Switch or whatever their next-generation console will be during the company’s current fiscal year, which will end on March 2025.

In a statement published alongside its financial results, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company will also hold a Nintendo Direct in June 2024. However, the Nintendo Direct June 2024 will not include information on the new console.

What this means is that we can expect a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement between the period of June 2024 and March 2025. It will highly likely arrive in time for the holiday season in 2024, which translates to November or December.

The full statement reads:

“This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.

We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”

There have been many rumours earlier this year that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be coming sometime in 2024. Now it looks like that might be coming true after all.
