Prime Video June 2024: Our Picks & Highlights
By Alleef Ashaari|May 31, 2024|0 Comment
I’m sure you won’t want to waste time sifting through Prime Video’s extensive catalogue of shows and movies just to decide on what to watch. The streaming giant updates its site every day, week, and month with new content, so I’m here to save your precious time.
Here are my personal recommendations and highlights for Prime Video Malaysia’s Juen 2024 lineup and how to fill up your free time with worthwhile content at home:
Marlon Wayans: Good Grief showcases Wayans’ unique brand of comedy, blending physical humour and hilarious commentary, with a surprising amount of heart. Taped at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, comedy meets therapy as Wayans works through his grief after recently losing both of his parents. He shares how his father taught him to be a man, the requirements to join the “Dead Mama Club,” the surprises you encounter when changing your ageing parents’ diapers, and who are the funniest Wayans.
The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s seemingly powerless against the super powerful.
Ma Dong Chan, a renowned producer in the entertainment industry, and Go Mi Ran, a part-timer struggling with family debts, took part in a 24-hour freezing project. Things don’t go as expected and they wake up from the frozen capsule 20 years later instead of 24 hours. To survive the side effects of their cryogenic sleep, they must adhere to strict guidelines to maintain their body temperature at 31.5°C and keep their heart rates normal. As their love grows, their lives are in danger. Now, they must uncover the secret behind the experiment to survive and be together.
Melting Me Softly is a romantic comedy-sci-fi series starring Ji Chang-wook (Welcome to Samdal-ri) and Won Jin-ah (A Year-End Medley), directed by Shin Woo-chul and the script was written by Baek Mi-kyung.
Jung Ba Reum (Lee Seung-gi) is a rookie police officer, working at a police substation whose life changes when he encounters a psychopathic serial killer. This drives him and his partner Go Moo Chi (Lee Hee-joon) to unearth the truth behind psychopathic behaviours. This also raises the questions of whether it is possible to scan a psychopath in the mother’s womb using fetal genetic testing? And if the child in the womb is a psychopath, will it be wise to have that child?
Directed by Choi Joon-bae, the crime thriller series stars Lee Seung-gi (Vagabond), Lee Hee-joon (A Killer Paradox), Park Ju-hyun (Perfect Family), and Kyung Soo-jin (Train).
Directed by Academy Award nominee Irene Taylor, I Am: Celine Dion gives us a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness. Serving as a love letter to her fans, this inspirational documentary highlights the music that has guided her life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.
Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey
Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded, back in good ol’ 1553. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.
