Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Announced
After 18 years, Capcom is going back to its action-adventure survival horror roguelite title Dead Rising with a new remaster.
Capcom has announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which is a full remake of the original 2006 Xbox 360 title. The original game has you playing the role as journalist Frank West, who is stuck in a mall full of zombies and is given a time limit of 3 days to get to the bottom of the epidemic. He has to fight his way out of the undead mob using whatever weapons he finds (2x4s, golf clubs, guns, the works) and also help people to safehouse so that he can level up and get stronger. The game also has a roguelite system where Frank keeps his levels and upgrades if he dies and restarts the whole 3-days over. Later sequels of the game feature the ability to duct-tape two weapons together for one super weapon, and also create vehicles.
Dead Rising 4 basically killed the series because it became a standard action game with nothing separating it from other zombie action games. Hopefully the remake preserves the magic and original mechanics, but also add in some extra quality-of-life changes and more replayability, in addition to better graphics for the current gaming generation.
No platforms or release date has been announced yet, but the game will most likely be out for PC and consoles. Also, there’s a good chance the game may get more of a spotlight in the upcoming Capcom Next: Summer 2024 livestream, slated for 2nd July 6am GMT+8.
