Twitch Streamer Dr Disrespect Is Fired From His Own Game Studio; Here’s Why
Dr Disrespect is in hot water yet again.
The controversial streamer is ousted from the video game company he co-founded, Midnight Society. He is stepping away from streaming and his position at the studio following recent allegations of his lifetime ban on Twitch in 2020.
The reason? He was discovered sexting a minor and attempting to arrange a meetup at TwitchCon that year. This is according to an X post from a former Twitch.tv employee.
He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text.
Case closed, gang.

Prior to him getting kicked out, he did a recent livestream stating that he’s “feeling a little fatigued” about being in the public eye and social media.
“Over the years it’s been drained out of me, been drained out of my family and I. And I just feel like—I had the mindset of, let’s just see what happens today, how we’re feeling. And I’ll tell you, I’m just feeling burned out. Maybe it’s time to start something new, something different. Challenge those creative senses. A desire to explore different realms, if you will.”
Here is Midnight Society’s statement after the Dr Disrespect stream:
“On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.
While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players.”

To recap…
Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm was an ex-Sledgehammer Games community manager who found success being a Call of Duty & PUBG streamer. His schtick as Dr Disrespect is pretending to be an 80s action star using a black wig and sunglasses; his most-favoured games on Twitch.tv streaming are Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and PUBG. He took a break from streaming for personal reasons (he was caught cheating on his wife) and then returned in 2018 with a bigger audience.
On March 2020, he re-signed with Twitch.tv for an alleged eight-figure sum. Months later, on 26 June 2020, he was permanently banned from using the platform. Here is Twitch’s official statement regarding the ban:
“As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”
After that fateful day in June, Dr Disrespect planned to sue Twitch a year later, with the lawsuit being settled in 2022. Of course, people are curious about the “why”: the reason for the ban were still private and undisclosed up until recently.
