Daybreak Games Announces Palia Developer Singularity 6 Acquisition

In a surprising announcement, publisher Daybreak Games has made a major acquisition by acquiring Palia studio, Singularity 6. This move will see Daybreak Games acquiring 100% ownership of Singularity 6, effectively making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.

The press release announcing the acquisition states that it is expected to bring significant benefits to Daybreak Games. It is projected to significantly contribute to the group’s consolidated 2026 financial targets of SEK 3 billion in Net Revenues and SEK 1 billion in Adjusted EBITDA.

Daybreak Games, a subsidiary of Enad Global 7 AB (EG7), is a renowned publisher and supporter of some of the world’s most successful online multiplayer franchises, including EverQuest, H1Z1, The Lord of the Rings Online, and others. With its extensive experience in the gaming industry, Daybreak Games aims to enhance its capabilities further and expand its portfolio through this strategic acquisition.

Palia, which entered its open beta in August, has experienced a challenging period, with Singularity 6 announcing multiple rounds of layoffs. Despite the setbacks, the cozy free-to-play MMO has maintained an active player base of over 100,000 players on Steam, Epic, and Nintendo Switch. Moreover, the total number of players throughout Palia’s lifetime exceeds 4 million. To find out more about Palia, visit the official website.

Despite the current difficulties, the team at Palia remains committed to achieving its 1.0 release. However, there is no specific date or timeline for this release.

The EG7 CEO Ji Ham said in the press release:

“Singularity 6 is a perfect new addition to Daybreak Games’ family of game studios with historied success in delivering longstanding multiplayer online live service games. Daybreak Games and Singularity 6 share the same passion for creating immersive online worlds and we are looking forward to joining forces to build, expand and support Palia and its large and passionate community for years to come.”

Given these circumstances, the news that Palia will remain in operation and that Daybreak plans to expand is welcomed by those who wish to see Palia reach its full potential and witness its actual launch.

Palia is available in Open Beta for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
