Junji Ito’s Uzumaki Anime Adaptation Slated For September Premiere
One of horror mangaka Junji Ito’s best works is getting an anime adaptation slated for late 2024.
The upcoming horror anime series adaptation of Uzumaki (Spiral) will be out starting 28 September on MAX streaming services. The anime is co-produced by Production I.G USA and Adult Swim, with Hiroshi Nagahama directing the mini-series at Studio Drive and Studio Akatsuki.
There’s probably a good chance it’ll be out on HBO GO and other licensed streaming services in Southeast Asia; guess we’ll find out later this year.
Junji Ito’s Uzumaki came out in manga form back in 1998 and ended its run in 1999. The story takes place in a seaside town where strange occurrences related to a spiral shape start plaguing the denizens of the town. The manga inspired a live-action horror film version back in 2000.
