Kevin Feige Confirms The MCU Will Enter Its Mutant Era Post-Deadpool & Wolverine
Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige has confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will enter its “Mutant Era” starting with the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
During a press conference (via The Playlist), Kevin Feige said:
“Every [Marvel] film is important, and there’s nothing better than a great movie for a Cinematic Universe. The before and after [aspect of it all]? I think a lot of people talk about the R-rating and, ‘Is every [Marvel] movie going to be R-rated after this?’ [And the answer is] of course not. But I hope every movie after this embraces its tonality the way Deadpool & Wolverine and the way this team does.
Also, the ‘after’ is clearly—now that we have characters from the X-Men world, the Mutants—we haven’t had access to before. So, this is the beginning of that, and every [movie] post Deadpool & Wolverine will be the Mutant era coming into the MCU.
So, this is the beginning of that, and every [movie] post Deadpool & Wolverine will be the Mutant era coming into the MCU.”
So, there you go, Marvel fans, the time we’ve been waiting for is finally coming as the Children Of The Atom is finally coming home to the MCU.
It only took 16 years (the MCU began in 2008) but better late than never.
Recently, we were given the opportunity to join a virtual press conference with the cast of the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, including Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson/Deadpool), Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) and Shawn Levy (director).
