Microsoft Reportedly Considering New Xbox Game Pass Tiers
According to a recent report from Windows Central, Microsoft may be planning to introduce additional tiers to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. These new tiers could include options for ad-based and cloud-only access.
For the ad-based tier, Microsoft has been contemplating its feasibility, but there are no immediate plans for its release. This tier could potentially provide a discounted subscription in exchange for viewing advertisements while using the service.
The cloud-only tier is said to target users who do not own an Xbox console and prefer to access games through cloud gaming. This tier could offer a more affordable alternative for players who do not want to invest in a physical console.
Additionally, there’s speculation about the potential revival of a Friends and Family plan for Xbox Game Pass. This plan was initially tested in 2022 and 2023, allowing up to five individuals to access a single subscription for a monthly fee, before being discontinued.
This news comes on the heels of Microsoft’s recent price increase for Xbox Game Pass and the announcement of a new Standard subscription tier that does not include Day One releases.
Plus, it’s been reported that Modern Warfare 3 will be available on Game Pass for console and PC this week, while Black Ops 6 is poised to become the first Call of Duty title to debut on the subscription service on its release date of October 25, 2024.
