S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Delayed for the Fifth Time
The release date for the long-awaited post-apocalyptic survival shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been delayed yet again. Previously planned for 5 September 2024, the release has been postponed by an additional two months to 21 November 2024, as announced by GSC Game World.
The decision was made after developers discovered additional bugs during testing that they wanted to address before the game’s official launch. Alongside the announcement, a new trailer highlights the recent updates incorporated.
Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game stated:
“We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more “unexpected anomalies” (or simply “bugs”, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”

In light of this delay, GSC Game World has also confirmed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will have its first-ever developer deep dive. This comprehensive insight into the game will be released in collaboration with Xbox on 12 August, featuring interviews, behind-the-scenes looks at the development process, and new gameplay footage.
This marks the fifth time that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been postponed. Originally set for release in 2022, it was first delayed by seven months before being pushed back to 2023 due to the Russian invasion, resulting in some pre-orders being refunded. GSC Game World then delayed the game once more to its then-final release date of 5 September, which has now been pushed back.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is currently in development for Xbox Series and PC via Steam.
