Tekken 8 Tier List For July 2024 According To One Of The Best Players In The World

Tekken 8, the latest 3D fighting game from Bandai Namco, is still going strong in the fighting game esports circuit despite some setbacks brought in by the game’s first DLC character/long-time capoeira fighter Eddy Gordo. As a result, the game’s 1.05 patch fixed a lot of issues and changed up the game’s meta.

How’s it looking? According to top player Arslan Ash, one character is still in the upper echelons: Dragunov.

S+ Tier

Dragunov

Not much has changed for this Russian soldier, and for the better. He’s considered the top player of Tekken 8 due to his fast and damaging movesets, complemented further by the Heat System. We’re going to see a lot of Dragunov players popping up online and in future tournaments like EVO and FV Major.

S Tier

Feng Wei, Nina, Yoshimitsu, Alisa, Jin, Victor

These S-Tier characters have the best toolset in the game and have the best pokes and moves if they know their gameplan. From Victor’s counter-hit follow-ups to Yoshimitsu’s crazy and weird moves, these Tekken characters will bring you far in a tournament setting. In the current version of Tekken 8, these characters are worth picking up if you plan on winning seriously in ranked play and beyond.

A Tier

Claudio, Law, King, Xiaoyu, Bryan Fury, Shaheen, Steve Fox, Paul, Kuma, Lili, Kazuya, Reina, Leo, Leroy, Jack-8

While not as good as the S-Tier characters, these characters are mid-tier and aren’t as affected by the current updates compared to the characters below. Paul, Lili, Claudio, Law, and Steve Fox are still good picks to get ahead and want to jump into the game.

B Tier

Azucena, Zafina, Hwoarang, Jun Kazama, Devil Jin, Asuka, Raven, Lars, Lee, Eddy Gordo

These characters are hit hard by the recent balance patch and may not be tournament-viable unless you really know the character(s) inside-out.

F Tier

Panda

To quote Arslan Ash in his recent tier list video on why Kuma is better than Panda: “Kuma is good in heat. But panda is useless. I don’t even know why people even bother playing her. Just delete her from the game.”
