Zenless Zone Zero Made Bank In Just A Few Days After Debut
HoYoverse can now celebrate its current windfall, as it now has a third hit on its hands.
HoYoverse’s latest game, Zenless Zone Zero, managed to get over 50 million downloads in over 3 days since its launch on 4th July. In addition, the new action RPG has generated US$24.6 million on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store in its first five days (via AppMagic & Pocketgamer.biz). 51% of that revenue is from China (HoYoverse’s home turf), while 25% of it is from Japan.
These numbers are higher than Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail’s current output for the past week. The former generated US$10.6 million while the latter generated US$11.7 million, though to be fair, the two games had strong debuts and have been around a bit longer than a 5-day old newly-released game.
For a better comparison, Genshin Impact earned US$35.3 million in its first five days when it debuted in September 2020, while Honkai Star Rail earned US$55 million in its first five days in 2023. At this point in time, there are no stats on the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the game revenue-wise.
ZZZ is praised for its art style, animation, and gameplay flow as you get deeper into the title and its story chapters. The game has quite a slow start, with many tuning out in the first few hours over how boring it can get. For more on ZZZ, check out our critic’s review of the game.
