Become the Shield Hero in The Knightling, a New Fantasy Action Game

If you’re familiar with the anime Rising of the Shield Hero or the better-known Shield Hero, well, this new fantasy action game lets you become a literal hero who uses only his shield. Publisher Saber Interactive and developer Twirlbound have released the first trailer of The Knightling, showing players a brief of the backstory and gameplay.

The Knightling presents a quirky knight-in-training, under the care of Sir Lionstone, a brave mighty protector of the great city of Clesseia. When the knight woke up one day, he found that his mentor had disappeared. Left behind only his legendary shield, he embarks on a quest to find Sir Lionstone and use the shield’s mysterious power to find the missing protector and to protect the city.

One of the standout features (apart from the charming visuals and interesting storyline), is the combat mechanics, particularly the shield. Players can naturally block, parry, and create ideal openings. They can perform Captain America’s signature moves – hitting enemies, sliding with the shield, and executing devastating combo attacks. The shield can be used in many ways to survive the semi open-world environment, including solving puzzles and undertaking platforming challenges.

The Knightling is set to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2025.
