Cat Quest III Guide: The Best Equipment & Gear To Power Through The Game
Cat Quest III is out right now, and it takes place in the Purribean. Because goddamn cat puns and animal dad jokes are aplenty in Gentlebros. latest action RPG sequel.
It’s a heckaton of fun too, because of its simple action RPG gameplay and exploration, as well as the fact that you have a pirate ship to man that comes equipped with lovely equipment and weaponry. This quick guide offers information on the best weapons we had on our playthrough. Most of these weapons can be claimed from the main story alone, though doing the sidequests and Mama Milka bounties do help in upgrading some of these awesome arsenals.
Furst, a few protips:
- You can defeat enemies 10 levels above you. Just make sure your equipment is leveled up high enough (via the Smithy).
- Do sidequests when possible. They’re mostly short and can net you some spells you can’t find in the main questline. Example: the sole healing spell in the game can only be obtained through the Lovepurr Castle questline.
- After completing the Infinity Tower the first time in the main quest, you can do the “endless run” mode if you enter the tower next time (when you have the Infinity Key). This is a good way to get some fast coin and experience, as well as some extra items. Collecting duplicates of items you have will level them up accordingly.
- You can only get way stronger in New Game+. If you want to get to Level 999, you have to go through new New Game+ playthroughs. Head here for more information on this post-game mode.
Cat Quest III Best Equipment And Accessories
Do note that all equipment can be levelled up by upgrading them at the Smithy for gold. When you’re past level 55 or so, you can equip a maximum of 4 accessories.
Sword of Orion
This sword teleports you to the closest enemy you’re targeting and deals decent damage. Definitely a must-have as the teleportation animation gives you invincibility. You can get this by defeating Orion in the main quest.
Stave of Antares
Shoots 2 arcane projectiles, with the third shot being a slow-moving arcane purrism that tracks and homes in onto the nearest target. The purrism also multi-hits, and you can stack multiple purrisms for more hits. Very effective against big targets like giant pirate ship bosses if they’re close to shore.
Meowtallika’s Tricorne
This hat gives you the ability to net additional hits for every lightning attack. This combos well with Meowtallika’s Pick and with your lightning spells. You can get this from defeating Meowtallika in a sidequest. You will need to defeat his pirate ship first before attending the concert in his domain.
Purrmaid Vest
This armour has some good stats, as well as let you regenerate health when in water while you’re on your floater. You can get this in a whirlpool close to the main town of the game. To get it from the whirlpool, you need to get the Shell Phone from the cat mermaid up north at the Sunset Islands, close to the final cave up north where the North Star is located.
Pawer Milk
This accessory lets you attack faster if you keep attacking and racking up combos. Very useful especially at high levels. You can get this by completing bounties for Mama Milka in the tavern at the main town.
Hearty Milk
A good accessory for gaining you mana if you have a healing spell ready. Plus the health bonus is decent. You can get this by completing bounties for Mama Milka in the tavern at the main town.
Magic Milk
A good accessory to have when you want to spam spells, especially in areas like the Infinity Tower. You can get this by completing bounties for Mama Milka in the tavern at the main town.
Meowtallika’s Pick
A must-have accessory if you want to cast a free lightning bolt from your melee/ranged attacks. Obtained from defeating Meowtallika.
The Furst Mail
Offers lovely stat boosts for your pirate cat. You can get this by completing Postmutt’s sidequest at Cat-Face Mountain. This sidequest line may take a while as you have to travel all across the Purribean delivering mail.
