Killer Tamagotchis & 2000s Nostalgia Hunt Humans In First Y2K Trailer

Is anyone here a 2000s kid?

A24 has released the official trailer for the horror comedy Y2K, starring Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler and Julian Dennison. Additional cast members include The Kid Laroi, Fred Durst, Lachlan Watson, Daniel Zolghadri, Eduardo Franco, Mason Gooding, Lauren Balone, Tim Heidecker and Alicia Silverstone.

This looks like it’s going to be a great self-aware horror comedy with 2000s-era references galore. In the trailer alone, we get to see someone get killed by a freaking sentient Tamagotchi with a drill, a VHS player tossing tapes, and more.

The synopsis reads:

“On the last night of 1999, two high school juniors crash a New Years Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy.”

The movie marks comedian Kyle Mooney’s directorial debut. Mooney directed the sci-fi comedy from a script he co-wrote with Evan Winter, while Jonah Hill served as a producer on the film.

Y2K premieres in December 2024, but there’s no word yet on if the movie will premiere in Malaysian cinemas.
