Stellar Blade Summer Update Sparks Surge in PS5 Player Count
Shift Up’s debut action RPG, Stellar Blade has experienced an increase in PlayStation 5 player numbers following the recent Summer Update released. The update led to a boost of up to 40.14% in the player base, according to data from TrueTrophies, gathered from over 3.1 million active PSN accounts on 28th July.

This surge in player count is noteworthy as Stellar Blade does not include live service features. TrueTrophies also noted that there were no recent sales for the game, indicating that the rise in player count was driven solely by the new content.
The Summer Update for Stellar Blade introduced a new location suited for hot climates and offered new outfits for the character Eve, including swimwear. Although the new outfits are purely cosmetic, they seem to meet the game’s fanbase expectations.
Stellar Blade initially sparked controversy due to the sexualized design of its protagonist, Eve, but it was generally regarded as a solid character action game. Reviews praised its gameplay and memorable boss fights while acknowledging that the story was not a strong point. Our own review rates the game at 60/100.
