Guess How Much Now-Offline Shooter Concord Costs To Take Flight?
After coming and going for just a few weeks, first-person multiplayer shooter Concord can be considered a flop from publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Firewalk Studios, delisted from the online store. However, recent reports painted a grim picture of this project.
Lots of people have speculated on the cost of Concord, but PlayStation podcast Sacred Symbols has revealed that the recently-offline shooter reportedly costs US$400 million to develop and market. Not only that, Concord was internally referred to as “The Future of PlayStation” and had Star Wars franchise-building/merchandising/spin-off potential. The development culture had “toxic positivity” which meant that no one was allowed to have and act on negative feedback.
I spoke extensively with someone who worked on Concord, and it's so much worse than you think.
It was internally referred to as "The Future of PlayStation" with Star Wars-like potential, and a dev culture of "toxic positivity" halted any negative feedback.

As further proof of the US$400 million spent, the game’s credits are over an hour long. Suddenly it all makes sense.
In addition, the director of Concord stood down last week. This is after the game was taken offline and its players were given refunds. Despite being grounded, Concord is still the gift that keeps on giving.
