PS5 Pro Malaysia Price Revealed & It Is As Expensive As Expected

The PlayStation 5 Pro AKA PS5 Pro was officially announced earlier this month, but now we finally know the price of the PS5 Pro in Malaysia.

According to PlayStation Blog, the PS5 Pro will officially be priced at a whopping RM3849.

If you count having to purchase the physical disc drive separately (which costs RM529), that will set you back more than RM4000 for a single console. Meanwhile, a Vertical Stand costs RM149 (the PS5 Pro doesn’t come with one).

In comparison, the standard PS5 is only RM2500 for the PS5 with a disc drive and RM2069 for the digital edition.

The PS5 Pro is better than the PS5 in three major ways:

  • Larger and more powerful GPU – A GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay.
  • Advanced Ray-Tracing – provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console
  • PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.

According to Mark Cerny, this means that the PS5 Pro won’t need to sacrifice graphics for performance, or vice versa. That’s all, basically, the PS5 Pro just provides you with a better performance than the older PS5 model. Also, it has no disc drive, so you can’t play your old PS5 discs or old PS4 games on physical discs.

Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games. PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported.

The PS5 Pro is set to launch on 7 November 2024.

It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed in every PS5 Pro purchase. PS5 Pro is available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.

Preorders will begin on 26 September 2024 at authorized local retailers.
