Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Welcomes Infected Mode & Nuketown Map This Week

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 kicks off the week with fresh multiplayer updates, introducing a fan-favourite mode and an iconic map.

Treyarch announced via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, “Launch was only the beginning. Tomorrow, the Infected are coming to play. Nuketown joins the party on Friday.”

Infected mode is a popular multiplayer feature where players must fend off zombified opponents controlled by other players, whose goal is to convert all remaining survivors. Meanwhile, Nuketown—a classic, compact map that first launched in Black Ops (2010)—takes inspiration from 1950s US nuclear test sites and has been a staple in every Black Ops title since.

Black Ops 6, which was released last Friday, initially included 11 core multiplayer modes, four Scorestreak-free options, and a Hardcore mode offering limited health, minimal HUD, and friendly fire. Before launch, Activision teased the addition of new post-release modes, and they’re following through.

The game’s first update rolled out over the weekend, boosting XP and weapon XP for Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight. Activision reassured players in the patch notes that “our team is closely monitoring XP rates across all modes to ensure steady player progression.”
