Indie Darling JRPG Chained Echoes Is Getting DLC In 2025

2022 was a good year for indie JRPG fans, as they get to play through an indie gem called Chained Echoes. It’s everything one could ask for in a 16-bit JRPG throwback but with newfangled combat features and an epic steampunk fantasy hybrid setting.

Which is why it’s surprising to hear that creator Matthias Linda has formed a new company called Umami Tiger to announce their latest: a follow-up DLC for Chained Echoes. Published by Deck13 Spotlight, the Chained Echoes DLC is titled Ashes of Elrant and will take players beyond the continent of Valandis. You’ll get new dungeons, new fights with 40 new monsters, and a new playable character called the White Wolf. Oh, and 15 new music tracks from composer Eddie Marianukroh.

“Ashes of Elrant” takes players to a new land, away from Valandis. It is set right before the final fight of Chained Echoes so you can prepare yourself for meeting your beloved heroes once again. The Clan of the Crimson Wings has to answer a call for help from the land of Elrant. A land where nothing is as it seems.”

So if you haven’t played Chained Echoes, best you do so now so that you’ll get to the part where the DLC can only be played at: near the end of the game. Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant will be out in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
