Hazelight Reveals Split Fiction: A Sci-Fi/Fantasy Co-Op Buddy Adventure
By Lewis Larcombe|December 13, 2024|0 Comment
Hazelight Studios, the masterminds behind It Takes Two, have officially unveiled their next big co-op adventure, Split Fiction. Announced at The Game Awards 2024, this action-packed title blurs the lines between sci-fi and fantasy in a way only Hazelight could pull off.
In Split Fiction, players will dive into the worlds of Mio and Zoe—two writers with very different genres. Mio writes sci-fi, while Zoe is a fantasy fan. The twist? They’re thrown into a simulation that constantly shifts between their two fictional worlds. Think Stranger Things, but with more hoverboards, dance battles, and evil kitties.
As the duo glitches between sci-fi and fantasy realms, they must team up to reclaim their creative legacies. Expect bizarre challenges, like escaping a sun going supernova, fighting a villainous cat, and riding gravity bikes and sandsharks. Plus, the It Takes Two-style dynamic between Mio and Zoe promises plenty of bickering, making for a comedy-filled, heartwarming journey.
Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight, revealed that the game has been in the works for 3.5 years and is their “most epic co-op adventure yet.” And if you loved the split-screen action of It Takes Two, you’re in for a treat. The game brings back the Friend’s Pass feature (so your friend can play for free) with added crossplay support.
Split Fiction drops on 6 March 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, priced at US$49.99. Prepare for the co-op journey of a lifetime—Mio and Zoe’s creative clash is bound to make your mind and your friendship explode.
