A History Of Elon Musk’s Questionable Gaming Credentials & Action RPG Chicanery
CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, and Owner of X/Twitter Elon Musk somehow finds time playing video games and telling the whole world about it when he’s not knee-deep in other pieces of news concerning his controversial contributions to society. Billionaires do have some free time, and Musk used it to play a lot of action RPGs like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2.
The question is: did he legit play grind through it or paid his way through it? If you answered the latter, then there’s at least a sizeable amount of evidence to support that. See, on 7th January, Musk streamed himself playing Path of Exile 2 and playing through the game’s high-level Atlas endgame content. Of course, savvy action RPG players have torn through the video, bringing up accusations that he is paying players to boost his accounts so that he can reap the rewards without putting in the work.
This isn’t a one-off case, as Musk has allegedly been going through the motions since 2022. Let us recap:
2022
Elden Ring launched in mid-2022. Elon Musk got on board and showed off his build. The community criticized him for the build’s lack of focus.

Elon Musk bragged on the Joe Rogan Experience that he was one of the best Diablo 4 players in the world, where he cleared Tier 150 Artificer’s Pit in record time. This is in spite of the fact that every other top Diablo 4 player has used the same build as everyone else (Quill Volley Spiritborn, FYI). However, his record isn’t verified and is considered unofficial; the Season 6 Pit Leaderboard is dominated by Resistance.
2025
Elon Musk streams his Path of Exile 2 gameplay where he played through a number of Atlas sections and show off his loot. Loads of content creators criticized his setup and deduced that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Issues include Elon Musk not being able to manage basic loot and running past rare item drops like Chaos Orbs during his run.
Content creator MoistCr1TiKaL said that he should at least know how to play Path of Exile 2 on a basic level if he is a proclaimed top Diablo player.
Twitch streamer Asmongold also said that if Elon Musk can prove that he was the one who leveled up all those accounts from the start with actual proof, Asmongold would stream all of his content on X for an entire year straight.
Which begs the question: did Elon Musk boost his gaming accounts and paid other people to level up his game for him? That’s hard to say with no video or any sort of evidence, but this all seems likely and the least bit surprising if that were true. There’s nothing wrong with getting help from outside folks to play your games if it’s too hard. But don’t go claiming that you’re the one doing all the work and getting all the credit when you paid your way through it.
