PC Gamers Ban X For Being ‘Hateful,’ ‘Toxic,’ & Elon Musky

We’re probably the furthest thing from an opinion or an authority when it comes to politics. But when gaming is involved… we’ll at least cover it. And this time around, the internet’s biggest PC gaming subreddit, /r/pcgaming, has officially blacklisted X (formerly Twitter), labelling it “hateful,” “toxic,” and “increasingly less moderated.” Essentially, they’ve put Elon Musk’s social media platform in the digital equivalent of detention, alongside internet delights like lulz.com, oneangrygamer.net, and animebackgrounds.co.

“This is something that we’ve been contemplating for a little while now,” wrote moderator Shock4ndAwe, who explained that Musk’s platform had simply become too much of a cesspool. “Not to mention the distasteful things Elon Musk has done recently.”

As of today /r/pcgaming has added x.com to the domain blacklist.

That last bit likely refers to Musk’s eyebrow-raising stunt during US President Donald Trump’s inauguration yesterday, where he appeared to deliver what can only be described as a Nazi salute. Naturally, Musk denied the obvious, claiming on X that “the ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.” Whether the salute was intentional or not (spoiler: it did looked like one to be fair), it’s another notch in Musk’s ever-growing belt of controversy.

As for the subreddit, they’re not completely severing ties with X. Users can still share screenshots of tweets, but direct links to X? Forget it. “We’re still aiming to keep discussions flowing and improve the user experience,” said Shock4ndAwe. If a news article happens to say the same thing as a tweet, users are free to link that instead. Take that, Musk.

The irony in all this? The world’s richest man might actually notice the snub. Musk has recently faced backlash for a completely unrelated but equally baffling saga involving account-boosting in Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4. Despite barely knowing how to play either game, Musk was spotted flexing a level 95 hardcore character in POE 2. When called out, he admitted to using account-boosting services, which violates both games’ terms of service.

So there you have it. The richest man on the planet gets called out for shady gaming antics and loses credibility on the internet’s largest PC gaming forum in the same week. You almost have to admire the consistency.
