Hideki Kamiya Video Reveals More People Leaving PlatinumGames; Find Out Who

The future of PlatinumGames, the former kings of action gaming, seems in doubt despite its involvement with the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4.

Ex-PlatinumGames vice president Hideki Kamiya has revealed in a new video on his channel that five more game directors have left the house that made Bayonetta and Vanquish. They are:

  • Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari
  • Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata
  • Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura
  • Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito
  • Anarchy Reigns character designer Masaki Yamanaka

Kamiya added the following quote to the bonus segment of the video:

“Games are made by people. Wherever they go from here, they’ll create things that only they can… please look forward to their work!”

The five directors have yet to announce where they’re going next, or if they’re even joining Kamiya’s new studio that is making the upcoming Okami sequel published by Capcom.

This definitely confirms that we may not be seeing an Astral Chain follow-up from PlatinumGames and we’re not sure how Ninja Gaiden 4 might end up if the “new” PlatinumGames with many of its leads gone are working on it. Are we going to see another repeat of Ninja Gaiden 3, a sequel so bad that it killed the franchise for a while? Time will tell.
