The Wonder Woman Game Is In Development Hell, Rocksteady Is Working On A New Batman Game
A new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has revealed several interesting revelations about the games and studios at Warner Bros. Games.
The first is about the Wonder Woman game developed by Monolith Productions. It was originally announced during The Game Awards 2021. However, there haven’t been any concrete or substantial updates and news about the game since then. Now we know why.
According to Schreier’s report, the Wonder Woman game project was rebooted and switched directors in early 2024. The game’s development has already cost more than a whopping US$100 million. Not only is it still years away from release, but there’s even doubt at the company that the game will even get released at this point.
The second big news is that Rocksteady Studios is planning to make a new Batman single-player game, but according to people familiar with the timeline, the new project is years away from landing. It’s also unclear if the game will be part of the Batman Arkham universe or Arkham-verse. The last game developed by Rocksteady and part of that universe was the dead-on-arrival and badly-maligned Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, which released its last update in December 2024.
Besides all that, the report also reveals that at one point, Warner Bros. Games Montreal was about to make a Flash game, but the project was scrapped after The Flash movie bombed at the box office in 2023 (check out our review of that movie here).
Let’s hope that everything gets better for the folks at Warner Bros. Games.
