Here’s Your First Look At The Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake
In recent unnecessary remake news, Disney just published the official trailer of its live-action Lilo & Stitch movie.
The 2002 animated movie is about an alien prisoner named Stitch who ends up being in the care of a broken Hawaiian family consisting of Lilo and Nani Pelekai. Lilo adopts Stitch and together they bond while the dangers of her being taken by social security looms over the family. Meanwhile, two other aliens Agent Peakley and Dr Jumba try to secure Stitch under Galactic Federation orders; hijinx and heartfelt lessons ensue.
The original film had charm and a pretty funny crossover pre-release campaign where main troublemaker Stitch invades other Disney properties. this live-action is almost a beat-for-beat shot-by-shot remake of the original. Well, the aliens are mostly humans this time around, but we suspect the plot beats will be the same as the original. Actors include Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Sydney Agudong as Nani, with Chris Sanders returning from the original to voice Stitch again. Zach Galifianakis plays Jumba while Billy Magnussen plays Pleakley, with Hannah Waddingham voiceing the Grand Councilwomen. Courtney B. Vance plays social security agent Cobra Bubbles. Tia Carrerre and Jason Scott Lee return from the 2002 film.
Lilo & Stitch (2025) will be out in theaters on 23 May 2025. For a look at how both the 2002 original and 2025 live action stack up so far, check out our quick video below.
