Visions of Mana Co-Director Launches New Studio That Protects Creators

Kenji Ozawa, the co-director of Visions of Mana, saw the shutdown of his studio via NetEase as a new beginning and a cautionary tale.

The man who ran Ouka Studios, now shuttered, has now launched a new studio that protects creators. The new studio is called Studio Sasanqua and it’s based in Shibuya, Tokyo. Sasanqua’s main purpose is to develop and release its own titles for consoles and PCs, as well as make titles developed by external companies. Through this, Sasanqua will be an environment where management would take responsibility for bad results, rather than place that responsibility on developers.

The company will make smaller games using Unreal Engine first before scaling up to larger PC and console titles.
