WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers Opens Pre-Orders
By Lewis Larcombe|April 29, 2025|0 Comment
First, Black Myth: Wukong dominated 2024, proving to the world that China wasn’t just making games—it was making games that could make FromSoftware sweat a little. Now, hot on its heels, comes WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers—the other Chinese Soulslike you should probably start paying attention to unless you enjoy living under a rock.
Developed by Leenzee Games and pushed into the spotlight by publisher 505 Games, WUCHANG is lining itself up for a 24 July 2025 landing on PS5, with Xbox Series X | S and PC versions also in the pipeline. And yes, you can already slap it onto your Steam wishlist if you fancy feeling superior to your friends when it finally drops.
The setup? The late Ming Dynasty, a time so grim even history books need a stiff drink to get through it. Wuchang—a skilled pirate-turned-warrior with a case of amnesia and a disturbing new skin condition—is our unlucky heroine. She’s afflicted by the Feathering Disease, a plague that doesn’t just make you feel miserable, but threatens to turn you into an actual bird. As if political chaos, murderous warlords, and mutant monsters weren’t enough.
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers promises the full Soulslike banquet: brutal combat, careful exploration, and an arsenal of weapons and spells ready to be customised to your heart’s content. Your tools of survival range from good old-fashioned axes to weapons enhanced with Red Mercury, which sounds slightly illegal but very handy when you’re trying not to become pigeon chow.
Originally unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview back in October 2024, WUCHANG is looking to stake its claim as 2025’s next hardcore obsession. And if you’re one of those clever clogs who pre-orders, you’ll snag yourself the “Night & White” bonus pack—featuring new costumes, a flaming war club big enough to be legally considered a small car, and some glittery skill boosts for good measure.
If you missed Black Myth: Wukong, consider this your second chance to dive into a Chinese mythology-inspired fever dream where death comes swift, feathers come free, and patience will be severely tested. Pre-orders are live, the wait is short, and frankly, if you’re not excited, you might actually already be a pigeon.
