Titan Quest 2 Early Access Is Delayed
Action RPG loot-hoarding fans are eating plenty this year, though one of the more-anticipated sequels to a classic 2000s game is getting pushed back.
The Early Access version of Titan Quest 2, the sequel to the much-loved 2006 Diablo-clone-but-Ancient-Greece Titan Quest, has been delayed to Summer 2025, slated for PC (Steam). Previously, the game was scheduled to come out earlier this year (Winter period). The full version of the game will be out eventually for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC following the Early Access version.
“Originally slated for a winter 2024 / 2025 release, Titan Quest II will now launch in Early Access in summer 2025. The decision comes in response to a crowded action RPG release window and a desire to give the game the spotlight it deserves.
The team at Grimlore expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming response to their recent demo playtest. With thousands of players participating, streaming, and filling out surveys, over 92 percent rated their experience as positive or very positive. Particularly encouraging was the feedback from long-time Titan Quest fans, who praised the game for capturing the spirit of the original while pushing forward with modernized systems.
Players explored the game’s introductory chapter, choosing from dual Masteries and facing off against the first boss, Appollonia the Terrible—a fight that turned out to be a fan favorite. Visuals and audio received standout marks, with average scores of 5.25 out of 6 and 5.16 out of 6 respectively, while exploration and environmental storytelling were frequently highlighted as memorable features.
That said, the team acknowledges areas that need refinement. Combat fluidity, ability aiming, and balance are already being addressed, and performance optimizations will continue. New improvements, including customizable control schemes and enhanced UI indicators, are already underway based on community suggestions.”
If you can’t wait that long for the sequel, you should check out Grim Dawn, a pretty nifty action RPG with loot and gameplay similar to Titan Quest, only with Victorian and gothic trappings. After all, Grim Dawn was made by the same team that created the first Titan Quest.
