PlayStation State Of Play June 2025: The Best Announcements So Far

It’s the middle of 2025, meaning all the upcoming late 2025 and 2026 video games are getting brand-spanking new announcements in shows like Summer Game Fest. PlayStation has theirs, called the State of Play, and this one’s a doozy.

Here are the top 8 best announcements so far from the June 2025 showcase.

#10. Pragmata

After many years, Capcom’s space adventure title gets a new trailer and new info. You play as a spaceman who teams up with a little girl android(?) named Diana as they escape the space station they’re on.

There’s a lot shown here, and it’s all looking great for a new adventure game with that Capcom touch. Out for PlayStation 5 in 2026.

#9. Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

There hasn’t been a new Metroidvania from Koji Igarashi and co. for a while, since 2019. Welp, now we get a prequel featuring new characters & a new gothic setting.

Set in a haunting world years before the events of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement follows Leo and the fearless Black Wolves as they prepare to storm the cursed Ethereal Castle and confront the rising darkness. Under the command of Lord Theodore, the warriors face horrific beasts and the malevolent Demon Lord Elias in a brutal battle for humanity’s survival.

Out in 2026 for PC and consoles.

#8. Romeo Is A Dead Man

A new action game from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, this title features katanas and guns, as well as loads of ultraviolence. Out in 2026.

#7. Lumines Arise

Tetsuya Mizuguchi is back with a new Lumines entry; it’s been too darn long since we had a puzzle title like this. The last time a Lumines game came out and people knew about it, that was on the PSP.

Out in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5.

#6. Nioh 3

Koei Tecmo has announced a third game in the action RPG Nioh series. This time, you can play in both a Samurai and Ninja playstyle.

You still have to kill loads of tough-as-nails demons though. Out in Early 2026 for PlayStation 5.

#5. Sword of the Sea

The new action-adventure title from the artist behind Abzu, Journey, and The Pathless finally gets a release date: 19 August for PS5 and PC. The game has you riding a sword through lush landscapes and barren areas, searching for meaning in your life or something along those lines. These titles are usually vague with their stories until after release. At least the wait isn’t that long.

#4. Hirogami

A new 3D platformer from Bandai Namco Singapore (our neighbours), this game has you playing an origami-made hero who can transform into other origami creatures for puzzle-solving and combat. Out on 3rd September for PS5.

#3. 007 First Light

We get a chunky gameplay trailer of the new 007 game where we see a James Bond go through his younger years in the espionage game. His target is rogue agent 009 and has to infiltrate his terrorist group, fight through enemies in third-person gunplay combat, and chase them down in fancy-ass cars. Just like a typical 007 mission but with the IO Interactive touch.

007 First Light will be out in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.

#2. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (Remaster)

The rumours and pre-emptive tweet from Yasumi Masuno are real: the legendary strategy RPG title FF Tactics is getting an enhanced port. The remaster adds fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features.

The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto-save.

Out on 30th September for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.

#1. Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls

Who knew Arc System Works is making a 4v4 Marvel Comics-filled fighting game? And it looks so friggin’ good! The action looks like what would happen if the makers of Dragon Ball FighterZ added a fourth member in their versus team dynamic. It looks bright, the anime aesthetic is welcome, and it features favourites like Spider-Man, Dr Doom, and Ms Marvel as playable fighters.

The upcoming fighting game will feature both traditional motion inputs and simple inputs (ala Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6). Multiple characters can appear on screen for both offensive and defensive play. The game will also leave room for characters that have never been playable before, so there’s a chance odd picks like Elsa Bloodstone, Dazzler, and even Green Goblin might be in the mix.

Out in 2026 for PC and PlayStation 5.
