Indie Jam 2026: Schedule & Dates For Malaysia’s Indie Games Showcase

Southeast Asian gamers and game makers unite: Malaysia is hosting another gathering of like-minded souls for another jam.

Indie Jam 2026 is an annual celebration of the ASEAN independent game development industry. The event is now in its fourth edition this April in partnership with Management and Science University’s MSU Engage Talent Sync Expo 2026. Targeting at gaming enthusiasts and those looking to work in the game development industry, this free-entry conference provides an opportunity to learn directly from the industry, build valuable connections, and play the best independent games the region has to offer.

Note that all programs, games list, and agendas will be updated weekly and closer to the event dates.

Games For Change Student Game Jam Kuala Lumpur

The Games For Change Student Game Jam Kuala Lumpur will make its debut at Indie Jam 2026 in partnership with Management and Science University, Games for Change Hong Kong, Tencent Institute of Games, Playing For The Planet, and Digital Blacksmith School.

Open to university students and fresh graduates, this 1-week online game jam tackles real-world environmental challenges through the medium of video games. The game jam features a unique emphasis on pitching and presentation, requiring participants to showcase their game at Indie Jam 2026 with scoring being divided into 2 distinct parts.

  • The Public Voting Segment, which makes up for 30% of total score
  • The Judges Choice Segment, where teams present their games to a panel of industry judges which then accounts for 70% of the total score

The Top 3 highest scoring teams will be crowned at the  closing ceremony of Indie Jam 2026 on April 5th & receive prizes.

Mentor Match From Women in Games Asia Chapter + Outcrowd Malaysia

Indie Jam 2026 presents the Women In Games Asia Mentor Match, a session designed to connect young game developers with industry professionals for one-on-one mentorship sessions in an inclusive space.

Participants can look forward to:

  • A keynote session by a Women in Games Asia Leader
  • Two hours dedicated to mentor one-on-one’s, with each pair’s session lasting up to 30 minutes
