Marvel’s Shang-Chi Gets Action-Packed First Trailer
By Alleef Ashaari|April 19, 2021|0 Comment
The first trailer for Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings has arrived, and it’s full of kung fu action.
It stars Simu Liu as the titular Shang-Chi, Tony Leung as Wenwu AKA the real Mandarin (not the imposter from the 2013’s Iron Man 3), and Awkwafina as Katy.
What’s interesting here is Tony Leung’s Wenwu AKA the Mandarin. Fans will be glad to learn that they’ll be getting a more comic-accurate version of the famous comic book villain. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton described Wenwu:
“A character like Wenwu could have easily been a one-dimensional villain with no heart.
Tony opened this character up [so] this is an antagonist who has a deep ability to love.
I think people hear ‘the Mandarin’ and expect a very specific kind of thing, and that may not be the thing they’re getting.
They’re hopefully getting a more complex and layered take on the character than that name would lead you to.”
