Atlus Is Teasing A New Soul Hackers Game [Update]

ATLUS has launched a new countdown teaser website, as well as an official Twitter account, that teases a new Soul Hackers game. The countdown is set to end at 7 pm GMT+8 on 21 February 2022.

The website opens with the following ‘loading’ text:

Hello HUMAN
We want to collect your information
> Checking device compatibility
> Notice: Please, do NOT take your hands off the device
> Call “Soul Hack”
> Sequence start

The first tweet from the official Twitter account reads:

“Hello, we are Aion. Please follow this account. Your cooperation is needed. soul-hackers.jp #SoulHackers”

The second tweet reads:

“Aion has predicted the end of mankind. To avoid the end, we will begin a sequence today at 20:00 JST. Please observe and cooperate. soul-hackers.jp #SoulHackers”

The Soul Hackers franchise is basically part of the bigger Shin Megami Tensei brand, similar to Persona, but it’s under the subseries Devil Summoner, of which there are many other games as well such as Raidou Kuzunoha. Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner Soul Hackers was originally published by Atlus for the Sega Saturn in 1997, but it was later ported to the PS1 in 1999, and Nintendo 3DS in 2012.

Soul Hackers distinguishes itself from other Shin Megami Tensei games by featuring a unique cyberpunk aesthetic. The teasers so far have hinted that the new one will be the same as well.

Update: The full unveiling will happen on 21st February at 7pm GMT+8.

We’ll have to wait until next week for the full reveal, so stay tuned on Kakuchopurei.
