M’sian & S’porean Ladies Compete In UniPin’s Ladies Series

UniPin is opening doors for female esports athletes in Malaysia and Singapore by providing an avenue for them to live out their passions and compete in by holding the Mobile Legends UniPin Ladies Series MY/SG 2022.

As the leading Digital Entertainment Enabler for online games and digital products across the world, UniPin is opening more doors for female Malaysian gamers to make their mark in the Southeast Asian region, specifically through its UniPin Ladies Series MYSG competitions.

Increasing the prize pool to RM7500 this season, UniPin recently concluded its qualifiers where 19 all-women teams from Malaysia and Singapore went head-to-head.

Only eight out of the 19 teams could secure a spot in the regular season playoffs. Five of which were Malaysian teams; Rose Ophelia, the second-place winners from the previous championship, HomeGirls, Red Roses, Madness Aubrey and Revolta Siren. The other three teams were from Singapore, Forsaken Odyssey, Reborn and GGFE SG.

Once disregarded as a pointless hobby, video gaming has now evolved into a revenue-generating global esports industry. The growing viewership, media attention and the number of investors is propelling the industry forward, along with the mass adoption of technology and experiential trends by millennials worldwide.

“This is our second all female competition and we are happy to see so many Malaysian teams dominating in the qualifiers. The UniPin Ladies Series creates a platform for female gamers to celebrate the competitiveness of esports, as well as build their confidence in a competition setting. By providing a steppingstone for female gamers where they feel comfortable to compete, we believe will encourage them to perform even better on a bigger battleground where winners of each country get to represent their country for Regional Championship at the annual UniPin SEACA,”

– Deborah Imanuella, Senior VP of UniPin Community

At the 2019 SEA Games, esports, for the first time, became an official medal sport. Although China, Japan, Korea and the US are considered esports pioneers, reports have showed that the Southeast Asian countries booming with gamer numbers are Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

The UniPin Ladies Series MYSG 2022 is supported by Boost, the fintech arm of Axiata through Game Connect, the one-stop gaming storefront solution as the Official Game Store. Boost’s Game Connect links games publishers to over 20 million Malaysian gamers, providing them with an end-to-end solution for their gaming needs.

“We are excited to be a partner of the UniPin Ladies Series Tournament as we hope this will encourage more women to be a part of an inclusive and diverse gaming community. Boost’s Game Connect offers a variety of top gaming titles and this partnership further builds upon that by allowing us to better engage with the gaming community,”

– Raja Mansukhani, CEO of Boost Connect

The tournament is also championed by TikTok, the official streaming partner as well as the eGG Network, mStar and Tech Storm, as supporting media partners, who share in the values and mission of promoting inclusivity and diversity within the esports industry.

UniPin has been facilitating gamers in the Southeast Asia region for easier top-up access and hosting several successful female-only tournaments in various Southeast Asian countries.

Where Can We Watch This?

All matches of the UniPin Ladies Series MYSG 2022 will be held online and you can catch the stream on UniPin’s YouTube channel, Facebook and TikTok.
