Babylon’s Fall Ends Service Next February, Less Than A Year After Going Online

In a “no s***, Sherlock” kind of moment, Square Enix’s online game Babylon’s Fall will end its service early next year.

The action RPG that sure as heck didn’t take the world by storm will end its online service on 27 February, 2023. To put things in perspective, the game launched on 3 March 2022; that’s less than a year of service. Here’s the full message:

“Greetings Sentinel Force,
Thank you very much for playing BABYLON’S FALL.

With the desire of delivering an exhilarating online multiplayer action RPG set in an elaborate high fantasy world, we launched the game’s official service on Thursday, March 3, 2022, and have continued to undertake additional development and operations. However, it is with deep regret to inform you that we will be terminating the game’s service on February 27, 2023.

As a result, we will also cancel the large-scale updates that we had planned. In terms of the plan moving forward, Season 2 will run until Tuesday, November 29, 2022, as scheduled, and the Final Season will begin with the maintenance scheduled on the same day. This Final Season is the period during which you can earn the ranking rewards of Season 2.

As a way of expressing our gratitude to all our players, we plan to implement as many events and other initiatives as we can, leading up to the end of the service.”

That one guy on Steam playing the game sure is going to be devastated, that’s for sure.

A Quick History Of Babylon’s Fall

The Platinumgames-developed title was revealed at E3 2018, and then at PlayStation’s State of Play event in 2019 showing off some medieval fantasy high-flying Devil May Cry/Bayonetta style action with magic. It definitely had a lot of promise being a PC and PlayStation exclusive from Square Enix and Platinumgames.

And then the 2021 trailer came out and the game is billed as a live service title. And had an illegible visual style. To say the game had red flags all over its body of work at this time is a huge understatement.

Unsurprisingly, the game came out in March 2022 and not a single f*** was given. To think, Deus Ex died and was sold off for this.
