[Rumour] Grand Theft Auto 6 Alpha Build Out In The Wild

Update [19/9/2022]: Rockstar Games has put out a Twitter message regarding the leak, blaming the hacker for the leak. The company stated that work on the next Grand Theft Auto will continue as planned and thanks its fans and third parties for their support.

Original story

On 18 September, alleged leaks surfaced of an Alpha build of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaked on forum site GTAForum.

The leaks are yet to be confirmed by a reliable source and originally appeared on GTAForum uploaded by a user that went by the username “teapotuberhacker”, but netizens were sceptical about downloading the link. One netizen had the gall to go through with the download and decided to share their findings which went viral on ResetEra. The alleged leak shares a GoFile download that contains 3GB file full of 90 videos and clips of alpha footage.

Below you can find one of the videos posted to YouTube by an anonymous account.

These leaks were further spread across Twitter by user @melzyfn who tweeted screenshots of the character models and possible environments. Bloomberg reported earlier this year that GTA 6 would include two female protagonists influenced by Bonnie and Clyde.

Another clip shows a playable character on the “Vice City Metro” train, which lines up with reports that the game is set in a modernised version of 2002’s GTA: Vice City. A separate clip includes a poolside conversation that feels similar to the NPC conversations in Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s unclear as to how old the footage is but netizens noticed that the footage appears to have been recorded on a PC that’s running on RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3080 graphics cards, so the development build can’t be any older than two years.

Other clips show new NPC interactions, updated UI and animations, and even Rockstar’s own internal debug tools for GTA 6 on PlayStation. While this could be an elaborate fake, the sheer amount of clips and evidence suggest otherwise.
