Kakuchopurei Best 30 Games Of 2022: #2

For the rest of the list, head here. For #3, head here.

#2. God of War: Ragnarok (PS5, PS4)

Even if some nitpicks here and there, like a need for a better traversal and fast travel system post-game, the fact remains: PlayStation clearly wins hands-down in the exclusive games department with God of War: Ragnarok.

A sequel to 2018’s sublime God of War tale focused on a reformed Kratos and the Norse god pantheon, God of War Ragnarok packs an epic conclusion to cap the storyline with big setpieces, more bosses and enemies than Kratos and Atreus can muster, and back-and-forth gameplay style switches between father and son. All of which are truly god-worthy.

True, not much has changed control and structure-wise, but did it need to? This is a rare instance where the destination is about as impactful as its journey. With fun puzzles, challenging battles, a ton of stories & quests to discover, in-depth character development (albeit some corny lines here and there), and unforgettable revelations that may make even the most jaded and stoic of us tear up outside, it’s no wonder why everyone is still in awe at Santa Monica Studios’ magnum opus.
