The Reason Why Thai VALORANT Prodigy Patiphan Changed His Name To “Patt”

If you have been paying attention to Talon Esports’ player Patiphan then you may have noticed that he’s changed his in-game name to ‘Patt’. This name change has been officially recorded in the VALORANT Champions Tour Global Contract Database and was first spotted during the opening week of the VCT Pacific League.

According to Patt, he decided to change his name to create a clear separation between his personal and professional life. However, he also clarified that this change only applies to his VALORANT competitions, and his social media handle will remain the same.

“I’m not going to use the name Patiphan anymore,” he told ONE Esports Thailand. “I don’t want to carry my own name with me [in VALORANT], but the name that I’ll be using [Patt] will only be for playing VALORANT. Everything on social media will stay the same.”

Patt’s first game in the VCT Pacific League was against Team Secret, marking his return to the server after a 471-day absence. His last game was during the 2021 VALORANT Champions, where he and X10 made it to the top eight of the tournament. After the tournament, Patt went back to his roots in the Overwatch League with the Los Angeles Gladiators, winning two trophies at OWL 2022’s Kickoff Clash and Midseason Madness. Now, he’s returning to the VALORANT scene with three of his former X10 CRIT teammates to represent Thailand in VCT 2023.

Patt sees the name change as a fresh start and is determined to make his mark on the international stage once again. “From now on, I’m locking everything, my emotions, my body, everything. It’s time for me to train myself again. Now, I’m competing with myself and calling it a fresh start.”
