Devotion Is NOT Launching On GOG Later This Week (Update)

(Updated on 16 December 2020)
In a bizarre turn of events, GOG has suddenly revealed that Devotion won’t be coming to the platform after all.
They cite the reason for doing so “after receiving many messages from gamers”. It’s unclear what that exactly means for now, but it’s possible that GOG is referring to complaints made by gamers from China.
Earlier today, it was announced that the game Devotion is coming to GOG. After receiving many messages from gamers, we have decided not to list the game in our store.

The game first launched for PC via Steam in February 2019 but was removed by Valve from Steam in early 2019 due to assets that supposedly mocked Chinese President Xi Jinping. It’s been that way for more than a year, until now.
We (at Kakuchopurei) even listed Devotion as one of our best games of 2019, which just goes to show how much of a shame it is that it’s not available for more gamers around the world.
