Dragon’s Dogma 2 Capcom Video Reveals New Key Art & Some Details

Capcom’s 2023 mid-year video showcase during “Not E3 2023” didn’t reveal much about Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the drip-feed did bear some fruit.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki “Devil May Cry” Itsuno talked a bit about what’s new in the upcoming action RPG sequel: improved physics and enemy AI as seen in the trailer, the fact that the entire game is powered by the RE Engine (which has been doing the heavy lifting for ALL of Capcom’s games), and also the game’s key art and pivotal characters.

The key art above shows off the newly-armoured main character the Arisen alongside two characters: Ulrika the bow-wielder who has a key connection with The Arisen, and Nadinia the priestess beastren. The beastren are a new race in Dragon’s Dogma 2; that’s also brand-new info.

Itsuno also talked about the Pawn system, which is more or less the same as the first game’s: you can have one pawn follow you along with two other support pawns you find online, creating your own party of four characters in single-player action glory. The previous title’s pawns are pretty intelligent (though chatty in the debut title), so we’ll hopefully see some improvements in the future game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has no release date/year yet, but it’s definitely coming out for PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, with new information most likely slated for this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2023. I’d definitely want the Capcom team to be hard at work at making the best possible action RPG they can create that isn’t called Monster Hunter.
