Guerrilla Has Big Plans For Horizon Franchise, Confirms Multiplayer Game In The Works

Guerrilla Games claims that they have 16 plans for the Horizon franchise and that there is indeed a Horizon multiplayer game in the works.

Speaking with GamesRadar, studio director Jan-Bart van Beek said that they have 16 plans for the franchise.

He said:

“We’re going to be continuing it for a very long while. As people probably already know, we’re also going to be working on a multiplayer game.”

He added that the Horizon multiplayer game is “another massive shift for the studio, almost on the same level as doing the first Horizon” and that “building out a two-player experience is a whole new challenge for the studio”.

It’s been several months since the death of Lance Reddick, who passed away back in March 2023. In remembrance of the late actor, Guerrilla Games has added a Lance Reddick memorial in the game, which players can visit.

In 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West (and 2017’s Horizon Forbidden West before it), the late Lance Reddick played the role of Sylens, a character who’s been both an antagonist and a friend to the game’s protagonist, Aloy. His last appearance as Sylens was in the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores expansion DLC, which launched back in April 2023, just one month after his passing.
